Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Chatelain (“Chatelain,” “we,” “us”) is a private household-management application operated by an individual for personal and family use. This policy explains what information the application accesses, why, and how it is handled. We have designed Chatelain to collect as little as possible and to keep what it does collect under your control.

1. Who this applies to

Chatelain is not a public, multi-tenant service. It is operated for a single household and its invited members. If you are using Chatelain, you are that operator or someone they have expressly granted access to.

2. Information we access

Chatelain works only with information you connect to it. Depending on which features you enable, this may include:

3. How we use it

Accessed information is used only to provide the application’s core function to you: building a private record of your household and reminding you of things that need attention. Specifically, Chatelain uses Google account data solely to extract and organize household-relevant details for display back to you within the application.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not use it to train generalized machine-learning or AI models.

4. Google API Services — Limited Use

Chatelain’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in Chatelain, is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide those features or as required by law, and is never used for advertising or to train generalized AI/ML models.

5. Storage and retention

Chatelain stores its records locally on hardware controlled by the household operator. Data is retained only for as long as it is useful to you, and you may delete it at any time. Revoking Chatelain’s access to your Google account (see below) stops any further access immediately.

6. Sharing

We do not share your information with third parties, except: (a) with members of your own household whom you have invited; and (b) where required by law. Chatelain does not send your Google data to any outside analytics, advertising, or data-broker service.

7. Your choices and control

8. Security

Chatelain is designed to run privately, without exposing your data to the public internet. We take reasonable measures to protect stored information, though no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

9. Children

Chatelain is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
